Thurgood Marshall Academy: Zoomers, RISE UP!
Roane Educational Consulting Firm (RECF) worked with Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School to provide a summer enrichment program to reduce the achievement gap caused by delays as a result of COVID-19.
Zoomers, RISE UP! had the main goal of reducing the learning loss caused by COVID-19 while preparing students to be change-makers regardless of the environments around them. By the end of the 4 weeks, students gained skills to be prepared to engage on ELA, Math, Leadership, and social justice issues that they were passionate about.
We incorporated an innovating approach to ELA and Math in accordance with D.C. Common Core Standards. The curriculum was entirely project-based and students had the opportunity to present an end product to the cohort.
Zoomers, RISE UP! was innovative for its unique hybrid approach. With in-person and virtual classes, our team of dedicated educators and staff ensured that all students managed educational commitments across various medias.
